How do I create my YouthShield account?+
Click 'Start free' on the home page, enter your email and a strong password, then follow the onboarding to add your first child.
How long does setup take?+
Most families are up and running in under five minutes.
Does YouthShield work without a companion app on the child's device?+
You can use the parent dashboard immediately to plan rules, curfews and routines. Live device enforcement requires the companion app — coming soon to iOS and Android.
How do I add a child profile?+
From the dashboard go to Children → Add child. Enter their name, age, and the devices they use.
How do I pair a device?+
Open the Devices page, click 'Pair device' and follow the 8-character pairing code prompt on the child's device.
Can I edit or delete a child profile?+
Yes. Children → select the child → Edit, or use the delete option at the bottom of the profile.
How do app restrictions work?+
Restrictions are set by category (social, gaming, video, etc.) rather than app-by-app. You can allow, limit by daily minutes, or block a whole category.
How do I set up a school-day curfew?+
Open Curfew → New curfew → choose days, set start and end times, and link it to one or more children.
What happens when my child requests more time?+
You'll get a notification. Open Requests, then approve, deny, or grant a custom time window.
Can I invite my co-parent?+
Yes — Settings → Family → Invite co-parent. They'll get an email with a one-click invite.
Can a guardian be read-only?+
Yes. When inviting, choose the read-only guardian role. They'll see reports but cannot change settings.
How do I remove a family member?+
Settings → Family → click the member → Remove.
What is the Family Health Score™?+
A single number from 0–100 that summarises how healthy your family's tech habits are this week. It blends screen time, sleep, balance, safety and engagement.
How often are wellbeing reports updated?+
Daily check-ins update immediately. Weekly summaries publish every Sunday evening.
How much does YouthShield cost?+
Free for the basics. Standard is £4.99/month. Premium is £9.99/month. You can cancel any time.
When does billing launch?+
Payments are launching shortly. Until then you can use the platform free of charge.
Can I cancel any time?+
Yes — one click from Subscription. No contracts, no friction.
How do I reset my password?+
Use the Forgot password link on the sign-in page. We'll email you a secure reset link.
How do I delete my account?+
Email privacy@youthshield.com. We delete all family data within 30 days of confirming the request.
How do I enable Sign in with Google?+
On the sign-in page click 'Continue with Google'. Your YouthShield account will be linked to your Google identity.
